Unseen Things

by David Pekrul

I find that what I don't see is often more profound than what I do see. No, I haven't become some sort of mystic, I just believe that God has created a universe far beyond what man can imagine, and that what I can see, touch, smell and taste is just the surface layer of what He has created.

Unseen Things

Look far beyond what you can see,
And you will find the truth,
Outside the realm of where you are,
And there you'll find the proof.

For what you see as being truth,
Will often be a lie,
And if you trust in earthly things,
They'll leave you high and dry.

For earthly treasures rust and rot,
And one day, fade away,
As everything is for a time,
And finally just decay.

So look beyond both time and space,
And look down deep inside,
And as you choose what you believe,
Let conscience be your guide.

Then travel onward; don't look back,
And never look around,
And you will find that unseen things,
Are really quite profound.

"Store your treasures in heaven,
where moths and rust cannot destroy,
and thieves do not break in and steal." Matthew 6:20

David Pekrul was born in New Westminster, B. C. Canada.

He wrote his first poem in February, 2004, as an Anniversary card for his wife, Linda. Being rather pleased by the results of his first attempt, he wrote a second one, then another and another. He soon realized that he was in love with words.

The pictures that his words paint may not always be pretty, but they are pictures worth viewing, for he writes about the world around him, whether they be things good, bad or otherwise. He also writes about family, nature, God and faith.

His first poetry book, "Parts Of The Sum Volume One" has just been published and can be found at http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/3145051

David makes his home in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies with his wife Linda and spoiled pup, Tiki.

Hi David I enjoyed this piece and wonder should we fear what lies under the surface of what God created at this present time that we cannot see

You and yours keep well

I don't think we need to fear what God created, as I believe He always wants what's best for us. I do believe, however, that we need to fear what man has created, or should I say, what he has messed up.

I appreciate you commenting; it means a lot.

Nice job, David. It's easy to forget there is an entirely unseen world around us. Good reminder.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on such a real issue of our time and this season of Christmas with its tinsel and glitter.

Thanks, Michael. Yes, Christmas on the surface is really superficial, but look at the real meaning, the unseen, and we can see why it is such a great time of year.

Thanks, Lorrie, you're too kind. I have to say that I'm having a heck of a time trying to think of new poems to write. At one time they used to come so fast, but not anymore. I guess I should have asked for a load of inspiration as a Christmas gift :-)
