With Pen In Hand

Is writing an obsession for you?  Do you feel you need to write in order to find some sort of fulfillment?  If you have answered 'yes' to either or both of the above questions, then you are indeed a writer.

With Pen In Hand

I live my life with pen in hand,
The need to write or'whelms me,
To share my thoughts with those who choose
To read my words astounds me.
For I am no philosopher,
I'm not a man of wisdom,
I'm just a man who loves to write,
And share with you my vision.

A vision of a better world,
Where wars at last will cease,
A world where we can be ourselves,
Where we can live in peace.

Yet words alone won't be enough,
But they can be a start,
To let us know what life can be,
If we will do our part.

So I'll keep writing, pen in hand,
To share with those who heed,
And hope they find a little truth,
In everything they read.

David Pekrul was born in New Westminster, B. C. Canada.

He wrote his first poem in February, 2004, as an Anniversary card for his wife, Linda. Being rather pleased by the results of his first attempt, he wrote a second one, then another and another. He soon realized that he was in love with words.

The pictures that his words paint may not always be pretty, but they are pictures worth viewing, for he writes about the world around him, whether they be things good, bad or otherwise. He also writes about family, nature, God and faith.

His first poetry book, "Parts Of The Sum Volume One" has just been published and can be found at http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/3145051

David makes his home in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies with his wife Linda and spoiled pup, Tiki.

Hey David,

How are you mate? I like this poem, your vision I share. The need to write overwhelms me as well, it is a good thing. Sometimes wisdom, allbeit the personal kind, takes many forms. Often those, who say they are not wise, truly are. I enjoy your poetry, I have had it inspire mine (see "The Station").

Thanks.

Kind regards,

Kian.

Unfortunately I have a bad case of Writer's Block. I haven't written a poem for a few weeks now and it is driving me mad. It's a horrible feeling, just wanting to write, but nothing is coming. I hope this ends soon.

Well, I don't think I have ever experienced that for long - if not a poem then an article or devotional comes to me.... do have a poem idea that I haven't gotten very far with - about Worship Warriors - tying the current worship team in with the warriors at Jericho - SO much of the battle is done through worship.... need to focus on that one soon and maybe share some YWAM stories of how we on the drama team fell flat those times we went out without the worship team to battle before the drama.
