With Crimes Never Ending
Crimes are committed,
While some are imprisoned,
Some others acquitted. The judges in courthouses,
Speak for the masses,
While reading the charges,
They often need glasses.
Is often so lacking,
Now where is the justice,
When crime has the backing?
Our laws need correcting,
They need some enforcing,
For people's protection,
Our safety endorsing.
The government's sleeping,
The lawmakers hiding,
The criminals laughing,
While getting a chiding.
And into the future,
With crimes never ending,
Our leaders are making,
More laws they are bending.
The Prisoner
At times in the quiet when I can think,
And my mind is able to roam,
I live in a world where I am free;
A world that becomes my own.
I travel around, I go where I want,
And everyone leaves me alone,
For once I am free to do as I please,
As free as a rolling stone.
Then sound rushes in and I look all around,
There's a warden and uniformed men,
I remember what happened and know what I've done,
And I'm back in this prison again.

Top-level comments on this article: (4 total)Very interesting poems - enjoyed reading them. Makes this website more "human" - some of the articles are a bit clinical for my tastes. Thanks, Marijo, I appreciate your great comment. I hope you'll take some time to check out my other poems. As you'll see, I have a lot submitted here, and I'd love to see what you think of them. Thanks again,David

Refreshing style and insight.I appreciate you reading and commenting. Thank you.
Wow- David! I don't know how you do it, but you find a way every time. I especially liked The Prisoner. Thanks Lorrie, that's a great compliment. I always say that I'm not able to write a long articles and find it much easier to express what I want to say in a few short lines of poetry. I'm glad you liked this one.
