O, God, I Needed You

I bowed my knees to seek Your holy face,
You showed me love; you showed amazing grace,
I raised my hands in humble gratitude,
And praised Your name with pious attitude,
O, God, I needed You.
What can I do to earn Your love again,
For all I do will fall short of again,
You said to lay my burdens at Your feet,
Forgave my sin, although so incomplete,
O, God, I needed you,
I really needed You.
Oh, I must believe in You, I must believe it’s true,
For I cried out to You, and You were there,
And You said You’d never leave me; I believe it’s true,
I have found a God who really cares.
You gave Your life, a pleasing sacrifice,
To save my soul, so free from pain and strife,
And now I come to offer unto You,
My all, to do what You would have me do,
O, God, I needed You.
And I will wait until you come again,
To take me home, eternal life to gain,
I’ll walk on streets, all made of purest gold,
And live forever, never to get old,
I needed you,
I’ll give my life to you.
