Life's Tunnels (Don't Cut The Trip Short)

by David Pekrul

In life's many tunnels there's always a light,
For some it is dim and for some it is bright,
Some tunnels are short and some tunnels are long,
Don't cut the trip short, for that would be wrong.
But some say they're tired of living in pain,
They say life is hard and they can't take the strain,
But what are the choices? Be here or be gone,
When one chooses death there's a break in the song.

The silence of death has no rhythm to feel,
We all suffer loss and a few never heal,
But you are important, though your tunnel be dark,
Find someone to talk to, don't give up your spark.

In life's many tunnels there's always a light,
Though yours may be dim and others are bright,
The light in your tunnel is there just for you,
Keep your eyes on the light and you will get through.

David Pekrul was born in New Westminster, B. C. Canada.

He wrote his first poem in February, 2004, as an Anniversary card for his wife, Linda. Being rather pleased by the results of his first attempt, he wrote a second one, then another and another. He soon realized that he was in love with words.

The pictures that his words paint may not always be pretty, but they are pictures worth viewing, for he writes about the world around him, whether they be things good, bad or otherwise. He also writes about family, nature, God and faith.

His first poetry book, "Parts Of The Sum Volume One" has just been published and can be found at http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/3145051

David makes his home in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies with his wife Linda and spoiled pup, Tiki.

OK, David - you ARE the master! Once again, no million dollar words, but straight-forward, easy to understand writing the hooks me and holds on. Thanks!

Thanks for your great comment, Lorrie. I don't think I know any million dollar words. lol
And I'm glad my poems are easy to understand. One thing that I don't like is reading a poem and trying to figure out what has just been said.

Beautifully written David, and very well timed. I was feeling depressed this weekend and it's cheered me up no end, so thanks for that.
