Chronic Complainers

We all know them, those people who would complain even if a million dollars landed in their lap. Why is it that some people just like to complain? Whatever happens, it is not good enough to satisfy them. I met them when I worked for an oil company. I met them when I worked behind an airport counter. I met them when I took phone calls for airline reservations. Are their lives really that bad or do they just enjoy complaining? I don't have an answer, just a poem.

Some folks are never happy,
They always have complaints,
I'm glad that I'm not one of them,
Although I'm not a saint.
I listen to them daily,
They ask for my advice,
I tell them once, the way it is,
And then they argue twice.

They have such negativity,
Or is it just a game,
To see if they can get to me,
And drive me quite insane?

It's like an epidemic,
That doesn't have a cure,
This sickness spreads like wildfire,
Of that you can be sure.

When one complains to someone else,
It sets them all on edge,
That person meets somebody else,
And this complaining spreads.

Now here I am, the guilty one,
Complaining in this rhyme,
I'm guilty of a greater charge,
Committing this same crime.

David Pekrul was born in New Westminster, B. C. Canada.

He wrote his first poem in February, 2004, as an Anniversary card for his wife, Linda. Being rather pleased by the results of his first attempt, he wrote a second one, then another and another. He soon realized that he was in love with words.

The pictures that his words paint may not always be pretty, but they are pictures worth viewing, for he writes about the world around him, whether they be things good, bad or otherwise. He also writes about family, nature, God and faith.

His first poetry book, "Parts Of The Sum Volume One" has just been published and can be found at http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/3145051

David makes his home in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies with his wife Linda and spoiled pup, Tiki.

Hi David.

I loved it. Well said and well done. I know exactly what you are talking about in your poem, I worked in Customer Service for 25 years.

Thanks again for an enjoyable read.

Best regards,

Thanks Nenita,
Like me, you've probably heard all the complaints. Human nature is fascinating, isn't it?

Great poem David, really reminds me of the futility and destructive nature of this negative mentality. It's all about!

Really enjoyed reading this. Many thanks.
