Water Colours

Look upon the water,
The colours of the deep,
Things that we are sowing there,
Are things that we will reap.

See the dolphins jumping,
The whales, like mighty ships,
They could be in jeopardy,
Because of oil slicks.

A slick upon the water,
The colour of despair,
In the name of industry,
Does anybody care?

Colours of the rainbow,
In oily magnitude,
Slowly killing ocean life,
This sticky thing called Crude.

See all nature weeping,
And watch her colours die,
Unless we are more careful,
And by her rules abide.

What Is Water?

What is water?, not that much,
Just some hydrogen and such,
But without it we would be,
All dried up, you will agree.

Bathe in water; swim about,
Without water we'd have drought,
Crops all dying, people too,
Without water we'd be through.

In the oceans, full of salt,
Want to drink it?, better halt,
It could kill you, and it will,
Let it flow and let it spill.

Some polluted; alkaline,
Think I'll drink a glass of wine,
Bottled water is okay,
Though not free, I have to pay.

Waterfall and slimy slough,
Bubbling brook and morning dew,
Icicle and misty fog,
Living life inside a bog.

Water, good, and water, bad,
Makes me happy, makes me sad,
So much water, none to drink,
Water, clear, and some like ink.

Water is a thing we need,
For to cleanse and for to feed,
Cherish and appreciate,
Or it soon will be too late.

David Pekrul was born in New Westminster, B. C. Canada.

He wrote his first poem in February, 2004, as an Anniversary card for his wife, Linda. Being rather pleased by the results of his first attempt, he wrote a second one, then another and another. He soon realized that he was in love with words.

The pictures that his words paint may not always be pretty, but they are pictures worth viewing, for he writes about the world around him, whether they be things good, bad or otherwise. He also writes about family, nature, God and faith.

His first poetry book, "Parts Of The Sum Volume One" has just been published and can be found at http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/3145051

David makes his home in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies with his wife Linda and spoiled pup, Tiki.
