Well, Spring is just around the corner and with Spring comes the bees. So here are a couple light-hearted poems about our favourite pests.

The Little Bee

While working in my yard one day,
I saw a little bee,
It hovered there around my head,
And made me want to flee.

I tried to brush the thing away,
It didn't want to go,
And then I took off on a run,
But I was just too slow.

It stung me once; it stung me twice,
But wait! - That cannot be,
I thought a bee could sting just once,
Not twice - "Oh, my, oh me!"

It circled for another bite,
And targeted my butt,
And then, as if that weren't enough,
It headed for my gut.

But it was just a little bee,
And it would soon exhaust,
But then I looked at it again,
My Lord! - It was a wasp!

An Epitaph For Mr. Bee

So here now lies our Mr. Bee,
While making honey in a tree,
He tried to harvest Maple sap,
But it was sticky and a trap.

So he was caught inside this goo,
His life was over, that he knew,
Before he died, he made a burp,
It tasted just like maple syrup.

David Pekrul was born in New Westminster, B. C. Canada.

He wrote his first poem in February, 2004, as an Anniversary card for his wife, Linda. Being rather pleased by the results of his first attempt, he wrote a second one, then another and another. He soon realized that he was in love with words.

The pictures that his words paint may not always be pretty, but they are pictures worth viewing, for he writes about the world around him, whether they be things good, bad or otherwise. He also writes about family, nature, God and faith.

His first poetry book, "Parts Of The Sum Volume One" has just been published and can be found at http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/3145051

David makes his home in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies with his wife Linda and spoiled pup, Tiki.

David, hahahahahahhahahahaa, this was great, both of them.....a burp? hahahahahahaaha maple syrup, hahahhahaaha, this is so great. The one about the wasp actually happened to me....they hurt. And I stepped into a underground nest of hornets, and they can keep stinging, I was stung over 50 times before I was able to out run them.....boy the hurt. But get this, as a lad, I worked for a bee keeper...imagine that....Great laugh, and made me smile type of article, your friend and fan in pen........Gary.....these were great
