Poems For My Granddaughters

Please allow me to share three little poems that I have written for my two precious granddaughters. These are my daughter, Tanna's, children and they are really precious to me. Isn't it just great to be a grandparent!!
The first poem, "My Little Baby Girl" was written for my first granddaughter, Shayla. The second poem, "She's Here Today" was written for Shayla's first birthday. The third poem, "Encounters Of The Sweetest Kind", was written for my second granddaughter, Matthea.

My Little Baby Girl

A sweet expression on her face,
Her fingers, toes, all in their place,
A perfect picture of God's grace,
My little baby girl.
Her wrinkled furl, her pouty lips,
Her face could launch a thousand ships,
Her smile could sun and moon eclipse,
My little baby girl.

A little squeal, a little cry,
I speak a whisper in reply,
It's not a moment I could buy,
My little baby girl.

My little treasure from above,
I give my heart and give my love,
Her name is Shayla, little dove,
My little baby girl.

She's Here Today

My little girl turned one year old today,
Oh, how she's grown,
How time has flown,
I sit here as I watch her laugh and play,
So much unknown,
From God on loan.

A little angel, cute as she can be,
I see her grin,
I melt within,
This little girl is everything to me,
The prize, the win,
Of Tanna Lynn.

A year is past, another's on the way,
I'm feeling blessed,
And so impressed,
I sit here as I watch her laugh and play,
She is the best,
By love possessed.

Our God has given us a little gift,
She's here to stay,
And light the day,
Another year will pass; it's very swift,
But that's okay,
She's here today.

Encounters Of The Sweetest Kind

Encounters of the sweetest kind,
She lays her head so close to mine,
And as I whisper in her ear,
To comfort, soothe and calm her fears,
I feel like I've been blessed.

The way this Angel looks at me,
As here I hold her on my knee,
And tells me in her silent way,
That she would always have me stay,
I feel like I've been blessed.

Matthea Davynn, little child,
So soft and tender, meek and mild,
A little touch of Heaven's charm,
I hold her gently in my arms,
And know that I've been blessed.

David Pekrul was born in New Westminster, B. C. Canada.

He wrote his first poem in February, 2004, as an Anniversary card for his wife, Linda. Being rather pleased by the results of his first attempt, he wrote a second one, then another and another. He soon realized that he was in love with words.

The pictures that his words paint may not always be pretty, but they are pictures worth viewing, for he writes about the world around him, whether they be things good, bad or otherwise. He also writes about family, nature, God and faith.

His first poetry book, "Parts Of The Sum Volume One" has just been published and can be found at http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/3145051

David makes his home in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies with his wife Linda and spoiled pup, Tiki.

David, what a wonderful set of poems as a tribute of your grand daughters, how sweet they look, and I don't blame you for your wonderful tribute to them. I loved the 1st poem, and I am telling you, you need to publish!!!! That is one of the most beautiful poems I have ever read about your grandaughter. I can see that in a childrens poetry book, for parents to read to their children...I would contact a childrens publisher if I were you, and send them a bit of your work....I think they would eat it up........Well done my friend....your pal, and fan, and friend in pen......Gary.

Gary, you give me so much encouragement to keep writing. I sit here in the evenings and let my mind wander, which often produces a poem of sorts. I read what I have written and wonder where it came from. You see, I'm not that complicated of a guy. I'm just a simple person, who once was a airline ticket agent, who now works in a funeral home. How basic is that? I'd love to be published and be able to actually make some money from my writings, but I don't really think that will ever happen. But that's okay; I just enjoy writing and making contacts with people such as you, who enjoy reading my stuff. Thanks so much for your encouragement. It means more to me than you can imagine.

David, there are publishers out there that will publish. The say in order to make a book, you have to have at least 70 poems to publish, and I think you could do it....It wouldn't hurt to send them to a few online publishers to see what they say, even if it is for your own information....its worth a try...and YOU CAN DO IT!!!!! your pal, Gary. I will give you a challenge, write a poem about a poet. I had to do that on my poetry site, fo r the international Poetry society.....it was fun.

I am so impressed there are no words. I was looking for some for an album for my grandaughter. I didn't copy these, they are your and yours alone.
Thank You for sharing them tho,
Angela
