"A Legend In My Time" and "That Certain Age" - two poems

A Legend In My Time

Born to rumble, born to rock,
Now I'm old, can't find my sock,
And I'm losing all my hair,
Rumble only in my chair.

Rode a Harley, drove a rod,
Built just like a Roman god,
Now I putter 'round the block,
In my scooter; cannot walk.

Partied late and after dark,
Kissed the girls where lovers park,
Now my nurse says it's too late,
If I'm out at half past eight.

Opened bottles with my teeth,
Now my dentures I bequeath,
To the ones who carry on,
After I am dead and gone.

Once a legend in my time,
Now a legend in my mind,
Telling stories, not so true,
Not quite lies, but truth that grew.

That Certain Age

I never thought I'd be this age,
(The years, they really move),
Yet even though I'm getting old,
A few things do improve.

Like, I can sit around all day,
And never do a thing,
No longer have to cook a meal,
My nurse does everything.

And when I've had a lot to drink,
And squirm just like an ant,
I never have to find the 'Loo',
I do it in my pants.

And no one ever says a thing,
For they're afraid to ask,
Why I'm outside with nothing on,
Except a cape and mask.

Senility is not for me,
My mind is very clear,
I do the things I want to do,
I'm not like I appear.

As I attain a certain age,
I act the way I please,
For I can do most anything,
With "grace and expertise".

Thanks Diane,
I'm afraid we're all going to get to this stage faster than what we'd like.
